Hands @ Work

Program Description

HandsOn New Orleans has a corporate volunteer program called Through Hands@Work, HandsOn New Orleans will connect corporations and other entities with service projects as they seek to give back to the New Orleans community. As facilitators for corporate social responsibility, the Hands@Work team customizes projects to fit the needs of the community with the needs and goals of organizations.

Tool Lending Library

Program Description

The HandsOn Tool Lending Library is the first official tool lending library in the city of New Orleans. The library consists of nearly 4,000 tools that New Orleans residents, non-profits and volunteers can utilize to repair homes, plant trees, beautify schools and parks, and more.

For $10 a month or $100 a year, community members and non-profit organizations/neighborhood associations may borrow tools for landscaping, painting, construction projects, neighborhood clean-ups and more. Members must present a valid, government issued photo ID and proof of address in the Greater New Orleans area when registering.

Volunteer Housing

Program Description

The HandsOn New Orleans Volunteer Bunkhouse is an affordable housing alternative for visiting volunteers seeking a comfortable place to stay while they serve in New Orleans. Housing is $25 a night/person and includes breakfast and lunch. Volunteer Leader Program

Program Description

Volunteer Leaders are local community members who commit to leading volunteers in service projects on a regular basis. These individuals are trained in basic volunteer management and project planning so that they may effectively lead volunteers in service projects. These individuals are matched with community organizations who need additional capacity in order to lead volunteers.
